Mark Gartner
Mark Gartner took the long way to get to college.
The 1995 graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel completed a strong scholastic career with the Bulldogs.
In football, he was a 4-year letterwinner for the Bulldogs, earning Bedford County Area Football Team All-Star and Blair County All-Star honors. He was also named to the Uni-Mart Football Classic roster.

Gartner was a strong wrestler for the Bulldogs. He completed his career as a 4-time letterwinner, a 2-time captain, and a career record of 83-24. His senior year, he was third in District 6 and fourth at regionals to become a state qualifier.
He was a 2-time Tri-County Tournament champion and was the Tri-County Wrestler of the Year. He also won the Blair County Tournament and the Line Mountain Tournament.

Upon graduation, Gartner joined the U.S Army and was in the 25th Infantry Division, 1st Battalion 21st, and Infantry Regiment Scout Platoon.
He was also in the Pa. National Guard in the 28th Infantry Division and the 2nd Battalion 112th Infantry Regiment, and he was actively deployed for 1 year.

After leaving the Army, Gartner took his shot at college and college football, and he joined a team that had a lot of success at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
The 6-3, 245-pounder made an impact on the squad. Gartner was a 3-year letterwinner at tight end as IUP won the PSAC West Championship twice and was the PSAC West runner-up twice.
IUP was also a Division II semifinalist in 1999.

After graduating from IUP, he used his athletic knowledge to become a coach at some District 7 schools.

At Hampton, he was the junior high coach from 2004-06 and was the varsity assistant coach from 2008-14, winning the WPIAL AAA Assistant Coach of the Year in 2012.
He was also a football coach at Hampton from 2004-07.

At Seneca Valley, he was the wrestling coach from 2016-17, and he helped coach football at in 2002.
From 2014-16 and 2018-19, he was also a coach for the Seneca Valley Junior Football Association Youth and Seneca Valley Junior Football Association North
